What's New?

"That's perfect. Commedia del Art is part of the genre. I'll be lucky to get Dave to post the plays we are thinking of this Sunday when the site comes up, ultimately I have a lot of collected plays from the period and I am seeking more - some of them are good, some lame, some dull as dust, and some just insulting to every one and anyone. LOL All are period, and those we do not use or edit can be models for an improved simulation."
-
"It was just a guess. LOL Patty and Bethany in the group are down here from the NY area and they were big fans of Sterling. We are looking to include street characters as well as formal acting and performance settings - since the visitors and characters seem to enjoy it a lot (that is how I started in Ann Arbor's Med Fest in the way-back times.) Hey, you remember "meeting the mouse" more than seeing the shows, right? So we are encouraging everyone to have a "role" also."
-
"I was in a madrigal choir for 2 years and I know a lot about greek tragedies and commedia del arte (which is a little different but kind of in the same vain). I'm familiar with most types of theatre and I've done a little bit of everything."
-
"Hi Amy. Thanks for the welcome! I have never actually been "formal" particpant at the Sterling Ren Fair in NY. However, I have been to it twice and dressed as a Jester. One of my favorite characters! :) "
-
"Well, we are looking at Medieval and Renaissance plays, which is mostly broad comedy (think early 'South Park'), tortuous moralities (think Greek Tragedy for Kindergardeners), and Cycle Plays (think South Park does the Bible except for the really dry plays which are like the worst Bible reading EVER). LOL Some are funny, some need a re-write, some are just strange. Music is Madrigals and Reels and Jigs and Old Folk Songs. We'd take an amusing similation, though."
-
"what plays are u adapting? and what kind of music are you guys looking to use/have?"
-
"Hi Carissa. most excellent to meet you. We do need more music and more theater! We have some show to cast coming up in the next few months, and plays to adapt and children's theater - you name it."
-
"Hi Lori, Welcome aboard. We will have lots of fun and we also have some needs to have period inspired music for some of the period plays - the music for the little songs has been lost to time - they all used to have a song at the end of each act - isn't that wild? "
-
"Hi Albany, Have you had a history with the Sterling Faire up there in NY? Welcome in either case, we are planning to have a lot of fun doing the Faire this year and look forward to plenty of new people as we have opened the event to more people!"
-
"Hi again, just catching up on my emails. What crafts do you do? I do some garment work and can use the drop spinner - we definately need help on games and storytellers as well, though!"
-
"My name is Carissa and I love Renaissance things. I have a great deal of theatre experience and love madrigal music. I would love to get involved with this if I have the time."
-
"Hi, My name is Robbin. I have done Renaissance in the past (mostly FLARF) and would like to get back into it. I have a 10yr old daughter and husband who are interested also. We love Living History and teaching Period games."
-
"I have only been to a couple of Renaissance Faires, but always love them. I definitely want to be part of the night's festivities as well! "
-
"I enjoyed the fair last year looking forward to it again this year, blessings"
-
"I love ren faires, and I am excited about meeting new people."
-
"Greetings, I recently ran into your meetup through a friend who joined and would love to be involved and assist in anyway possible. Its been many moons since I have gone to a festival and would love the chance to get back into it."
-
"This looks interesting... "
-
"I love to act, and I saw the sign up last year for the Harvest Faire but had no clue what it was. I am excited to be part of it, and I hope I can help get its name out so more people can take part."
